At last year’s AFA, I purchased a number of figurines – one of which was my very first Revoltech, the Danboard from Yotsuba&!. So let’s take a closer look at everyone’s favourite cardboard robot… Read More →
AFA 2011: New friends, more figurines and an epic Kalafina concert
Most of Animenauts local readers (I think) would probably have gone for the recent Anime Festival Asia 2011 last weekend. Not only did I manage to go for all three days, I also acquired a media pass thanks to the wonderful people at AsiaPRWerkz. So as I slowly recover (physically, financially or otherwise) from the epic event that is Anime Festival Asia 2011, I shall let you guys take a peek at what happened there from my perspective… (I know its a little late but hey, I got it up anyway, right?) Anisong @ AFAX Day 1 – JAM Project and Ichirou Mizuki
If you think that having second-row seats (B row) is good, think again. Within seconds of Miku Hatsune’s opening performance at Saturday night’s I Love Anisong concert, my eyes were completely blinded by a strategically-positioned stage spotlight.
My name is Glimmerous.Fop, and I got blinded by a vocaloid for ten minutes.
Anime Festival Asia X – The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
The Twitter coverage of Anime Festival Asia X continues unabated and undaunted. Once again, the content there is primary, mostly due to being a great deal more timely.
However, I promised to write something about the main highlight of AFA X Day Two for me, which was what I arrived an hour early for: the screening of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Anime Festival Asia X – Day One
(Every time I see the AFA mascot in that pose, I keep thinking he’s going to sprain something.)
The Animenauts coverage of Anime Festival Asia X is primarily on Twitter, starting from here, which I suppose is technically the preliminaries. I have absolutely no idea how Twitter deals with checking later and previous tweets, so I’m afraid this is the best I can do right now.
In the meantime, some extra bits and pieces I didn’t get the chance to tweet about:
Two gaming competitions at AFAX
For the gaming-inclined (and I know that many anime fans out there are gamers too), there will be two fighting-game tournaments at this year’s Anime Festival Asia 2010 (AFAX) on 13-14 November: Super Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.
Both competitions are absolutely free-of-charge, with no registration fees required (excluding the entrance fee you need to pay to enter AFAX), so I guess there’s really no reason why you should not take part.
