While there is no official confirmation as yet, Animax-Asia’s latest teaser video and online fan discussion seems to indicate that the Last Exile sequel, “Fam, The Silver Wing”, will be broadcast on Animax-Asia, with a same-day telecast as Japan. (Update: Animax-Asia’s website has since added a Last Exile page and confirmed the screenings. It will premier on October 15, 8.00pm Hong Kong time.)
In the above teaser video, the flashing lights on the top right-hand corner is actually a message in morse code, which translates to the word “EXILE”. Fan discussion on the Animax-Asia Facebook page has also noted that Gonzo has a “long-term output deal” with Animax-Asia.
“Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing” will be directed by Koichi Chigira, who was also the director of the first season and the Brave Story movie. The script will be done by Kuroko Yoshimura (Kurogane no Linebarrel) and the character designs will be led by Range Murata (Last Exile, Shangri-La). Maaya Sakamoto (Rahxephon OP, Final Fantasy XIII’s Lightning) will also be singing the opening theme for the anime.
Lead characters Fam and Giselle will be voiced by Aki Toyosaki (K-On’s Yui) and Aoi Yuuki (Gosick’s Victorique) respectively. Ai Kayano (Ano Hana’s Menma), Miyuki Sawashiro (Durarara’s Celty) and Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass’ Lelouch) are also in the cast. Eri Kitamura (Tatiana Wisla), Natsuko Kuwatani (Alistia Agrew) and Junko Noda (Dio Eraclea) will be reprising their roles in the sequel.
Thoughts: Really REALLY excited! Last Exile was one of my favourite anime back in the day and I am looking forward to watching the sequel. The character designs of Range Murata and the seiyuu’s are a big draw for me as well. Hopefully more information on the plot and broadcast dates will be out soon.
