The Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention is once again upon us and the 2010 edition promises to be more exciting than the previous years’. As an official supporting blog of STGCC, Animenauts will be there covering the event live. But before we get too excited, let us take a sneak peek into what Japanese pop culture fans like us can look forward to…
First up is of course one of the major guests of STGCC, AKB48.
While we can’t confirm the full list of who will be coming down, AKB48 will be making two appearances during STGCC.
On December 10th, Friday, TeamK’s Mayumi Uchida and Tomomi Nakatsuka, as well as Team B’s Haruka Ishida will be performing on the STGCC main stage at 4pm while on December 11th, Saturday, there will be a meet the fans session at Suntec theatre (level 3) which is only open to AKB48 ticket holders. Tickets to that, are of course, limited. A complimentary postcard featuring their latest single will also be given to AKB48 ticket holders.
Animax will once again have their dubbing booth at the event. They will also be screening a sneak peek of Spike TV’s Scream Awards 2010 and a special screening of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (Nurarihyon no Mago) on Friday. Animax’s Anime of the Year will also be announced then.
There will be a cosplay competition as well, with a grand prize of S$1000 for the group and solo categories as well as S$500 for the mini-me (kids) category.
Finally, there will be a series of conferences and panels at STGCC for those more inclined towards such things. Some of the more awesome panels are on Saturday, which I probably can’t go since I’ll be working then. However, JA will probably be around to cover some of the panels.
All in all, it seems pretty exciting. Look out for more coverage of STGCC when it happens on our twitter account and Animenauts.com!
