Anisong @ AFAX Day 1 – JAM Project and Ichirou Mizuki

If you think that having second-row seats (B row) is good, think again. Within seconds of Miku Hatsune’s opening performance at Saturday night’s I Love Anisong concert, my eyes were completely blinded by a strategically-positioned stage spotlight.

My name is Glimmerous.Fop, and I got blinded by a vocaloid for ten minutes.

A random tip for future Anisong attendees: if you are given glow sticks, just use one stick per concert. In my excited anticipation of JAM Project’s appearance on stage, I broke off both of my red glow sticks at the same time… leaving me with nothing for Sunday night’s concert.

Here is a very simple rundown of Saturday night’s show:

6.50pm-7.00pm: Hatsune Miku
7.00pm-8.20pm: JAM Project
8.20pm-8.30pm: JAM Project + Ichirou Mizuki (Aniki)
8.30pm-9.50pm: Ichirou Mizuki (Aniki)

So how was the overall concert? Every one of my friends were unanimous in their verdict: JAM Project were fantastic. It was their first time performing in Singapore, and they did not disappoint their eager fans.

For me, I was content with watching JAM Project member Masami Okui, one of my old-school J-Pop/J-Rock idols, performing live in-person. She hasn’t aged one bit, and her voice is still as powerful as ever.

Unfortunately, I was not in the right position to catch the towel that she threw at the crowd… damn. Another time perhaps, another time.
