Despite my current NEET status and against my better financial judgement (JA: which was the main reason why I did not attend), I was convinced by my friend Willis (in no small part due to him subsidising half my ticket price, thanks once again!) to go for the Mikuni Shimokawa ASIAN LOVERS Tour 2010 at Movida, St James Power Station. Together with my friend Andrew and Willis’ friend Aloysius, the four of us made our way down to Movida yesterday evening.
Our SGD95 ticket got us entry into Movida for the duration of the concert (about 2 hours), a free drink, a signed concert poster (after signing up for the AniSong in Asia e-newsletter on site) and a handshake session after the concert with Mikuni Shimokawa. All in all, a pretty good deal, especially if you’re a fan of Mikuni Shimokawa (Honestly, I just like her FMP! songs…).
Since me and the rest of my party aren’t really big fans of her per se, we probably could only recognise about half of the songs she sang at the concert (Where’s Julius Arifin when you need him?) . (JA: Saving money for a PS3.) Considering the fact that most of the songs she sang were anisong covers, the more “experienced” otaku would probably appreciate it more. To give you an idea of how the concert was, here is a partial set list for the concert (Would really appreciate it if someone who was there can fill in the blanks for me…).

She clearly knows how to earn points with the fanboys/otaku, with favourites like Hare Hare Yukai and Cruel Angel Thesis among the set list. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Anime fans would have enjoyed the variations of some of their favourite anime songs while Mikuni Shimokawa fans had the chance to see and hear her in the flesh.
