Ashita no Joe tells the story of a 15 year old orphan, Joe Yabuki, where under the tutelage of a washed-up boxing trainer, he eventually rises to become a professional boxer. The manga series has since been adapted into an anime series which had two seasons, two animated movies and a earlier live-action film.
Tomohisa Yamashita (Dragon Zakura, Kurosagi) will play the title character Joe Yabuki.
