Mizuki Kawashita’s Ane Doki ends

Ane Doki

Mizuki Kawashita’s (Ichigo 100%, Hatsukoi Limited) latest manga, Ane Doki, comes to an end in the upcoming 2010 seventh issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump.

The story of Ane Doki is about the 13 year old Kouta Ochiai who meets a mysterious girl on his way home from school. She asks him if he was willing to share his ice cream and then called him a pervert after noticing and wondering what Kouta was thinking when she was eating. Shocked about the reveal, he runs away dropping his Student Handbook by accident. Arriving at home the situation got out of hand. His father got transferred because of his work and if it wasn’t enough being on his own, the mysterious girl he met before was already sitting next to him. By giving back his Student book and the situation Kouta was in, she thought about the time to repay the favor for the ice cream and that was to take care of Kouta while his father was gone. She introduced herself as Natsuki Hagiwara, a 17 year old High School student who declared to be his maid for the time he’s left on his own.

Thoughts: Ane Doki hasn’t been doing well in the Weekly Shōnen Jump rankings (which is based on readers’ votes through a questionnaire system, read more about it in Chapter 16 of Bakuman) so the cancellation of Ane Doki wasn’t much of a surprise. Considering her success with Ichigo 100% and Hatsukoi Limited, I am sure Kawashita-sensei’s new work will be even better! Gambatte Kawashita-sensei!

Make you wonder if they accept the questionnaires from overseas? This was fun while it lasted… >_<

They probably do…but I think not many people outside of Japan bother to actually send in the questionnaires, if you consider postage and all…
