Japan’s METI (Ministry of Economy. Trade and Industry) is encouraging people to recycle their old cell phones with the help of Hatsune Miku. The song roughly translates as follows:
“Let’s gather cell phones sitting in our drawers / You probably have one in your house, too / There’s a lot of valuable resources in the cell phone you don’t need any more / Let’s all gather up our unused cell phones and recycle them / We will protect your secrets / So let’s gather cell phones sitting in our drawers ”
METI teamed up with Crypton, the creators of the Hatsune Miku software to create the song and held an illustration contest, from which 8 winners were selected and had their illustations featured in the music video.
