As mentioned by DKellis, I will be covering the rest of AFA09 Day One…or at least the events I did go to anyway. Since I just returned from AFA and feel really tired, I will give a quick summary of the events. A more detailed post to come within the next 2-3 days.
AFA Regional Cosplay Championship
I was actually late for the event…but anyway, I got decent pictures of most of the cosplayers (fans who don costumes and accessories to portray a certain character) involved. 00 Emotions from Singapore won both best costume as well as the grand prize, much to the surprise of most of the cosplayers around. While the best costume award was unsurprising, the grand prize win was unexpected as the crowd seemed to prefer Team WitchBlade from the Philippines (cosplaying as who else, but characters from the Witchblade anime), while Houshin Engi from Thailand got quite a few cheers as well.
Danny Choo Special Appearance
Danny Choo put in an appearance on stage at AFA and talked about his experience in Japan, as the “Stormtrooper” (more on that in the proper post to come) as well as his internet solutions company, Mirai Inc.
I ♥ Anisong Concert
Day One performers were Shoko “Shokotan” Nakagawa, virtual idol Hatsune Miku and Ichiro “Aniki” Mizuki.
